Other

  • General
    • If less than 2 riders for a school: Riders can participate as an individual, or Single participant of a school, but won’t be eligible for Moondarga Interschools Trophy, but are eligible for all the individual awards.
    • (For Schools Prep-Year12) If there is only one participant in primary school but the school has a team or another participant in the High school, they will be formed into a team but will participate in the high school category.
    • Failure to attend presentation, will result in forfeiting any trophies and prizes, they will be awarded to the next place getter, no exceptions. The presentation for gymkhana and overall awards will be after the completion of the session. Presentation of Show Jumping and Dressage awards will be after pack down on the Sunday.
    • Riders that have not started school yet but would like to participate are welcome to join the primary/ prep – grade 3 classes as individuals.
    • All riders must have an accompanying adult who is responsible for them on the grounds at all times.
    • Interschools trophy: Highest scoring school for the weekend. This will be calculated in relation to number of participants per school (minimum 2 riders over  all disciplines for the school to qualify for the trophy, doesn’t have to be the same two riders over both days)
    • Individual highest points for the weekend will be calculated per rider (not per horse), if in the event a rider rides two horses in jumping/ dressage the highest placing points will be used (not both). In the event of a tie, consideration of Jump height will be used, higher height will place first. If in same jump height the rider with the most firsts from gymkhana and jumping/ dressage days will be declared the winner.
    • Individual overall per discipline awards: Gymkhana: in the event of a tie the scores from the competitor with the most wins will be declared the winner if no result, the competitor with the most seconds, & so on. If equal in every case, then the highest scoring rider class will take the overall. Dressage will be scored in combination of jumping by class of jumping for overall jump and dressage awards, Dressage score by percentage will be converted to a 20 point system to match the 2 rounds of 10 points in the jumping. So scores will be out of 40 points, in the event of a tie, the higher percentage if in same class or the more advanced level dressage test will win.
    • We are a small club, and we would very much appreciate assistance on grounds to help the running of the event. When nominating there will be an option for selecting one of the following: Age group helper, Pole picking Sat & SUN, pack down of gymkhana games Saturday, pack down of jumps Sunday, dressage penciller. We would really appreciate any help you can offer. If you are happy to do more than one or know of someone that can help for the weekend, please let us know.
    • Nomination of stalls will be required when nominating. Stall allocations may be made, these will be sent out with draws and more information leading up to the event. Due to limited parking space own yards will not be permitted between floats.
    • Manure is expected to be cleared from stalls after use as well as around floats. Please move manure to around trees or the designated manure pile
    • Accepting nominations after the close of late nominations will be at the discretion of the organizing committee depending on class numbers, to avoid disappointment please register within the time frame.
    • Horse health declarations will be required from every rider. Non PCQ members will be required to fill in open day forms. These will be emailed out prior to the competition after nominations have closed. These need to be printed and either scanned in or presented on the day. Very limited spare copies will be kept onsite.
    • All riders before competing will be required to be gear checked by a nominated person on the day. If gear is being used that isn’t permitted by the rules, gear check can be failed and participant either to rectify or unable to ride. To avoid disappointment – check the gear rules prior to attending. No gear check no ride.
    • Overall school trophies will be presented on the day to the riders at presentation. The Organizing committee will then collect the trophy after the awards to organize engraving. The trophy will stay in the Moondarga Club house. If the school is within 1 hour of the club and if school/ participants are willing, happy to organize an assembly/ presentation after the engraving has been completed.
    • Nominations via nominate only will be accepted.
    • Non PCQ member fee is for all non-ponyclub members is a public liability fee that PCQ /PCA cover for open day events. It is a daily fee, contact us for more information. Failure to pay this for nonmembers will result in unable to ride till this is paid.
    • Code of conduct: PCAQ and Moondarga Pony Club Code of conduct will be in effect. Bad language, excessive striking of horse, abuse or disrespect to any official will result in being asked to leave the grounds.
    • Disclaimer: Neither the organizing committee of this event nor PCAQ accepts any liability for the damage, accident, injury or illness to horses, riders, spectators or any person or property whatsoever. The organizing committee reserves rights: a) cancel the event b) alter date/ time c) alter any part of the program order or events listed d) remove rider/horse from activity. Day members are covered by PCQ public liability insurance however there is no Personal accident insurance for day members.
    • Note on entering grounds: Entry gate will be left shut, MPC recommends pulling off prior to the turn off especially for longer floats. Signage will be up alerting road users an event is on.
    • Parking will be tight as the grounds parking area is quite small. If arriving and there is no one manning the gate, please look for any instructions left on the gate and park considering others. If parked in a drive way your vehicle will need to be removed. We must keep a drive away clear for emergency Vehicles.  Saturday and Sunday morning we will aim to have someone on the gate – please follow their instructions. Please avoid parking in the powered sites unless you booked them or are told to do so. Large trucks/ goosenecks may not fit in the grounds especially if arriving later, please be prepared if large vehicle or if late may need to park on the side of the road (pending rain)
    • The club house entry is for cars only- not floats. If this is full parking can be extended onto the side of the road.
    • A horse is under 1 rider for the weekend (another rider can’t ride the horse from another rider for the next day), please contact the organizer if this will cause issues and in exceptional circumstances exceptions may be made.
    • Stables for companion horses won’t be available at this event, all horses being stabled/ on grounds shall be nominated to be ridden on during the event.
    • If any Class has over 20 riders it is at the discretion of the organizing committee to split that class into two groups
  • Gymkhana:
    • Only 1 horse can be entered in the gymkhana per rider.
    • Gymkhana: If a rider wants to jump a lower height than their age group, their jump score won’t count towards their overall total, but still can be eligible for overall awards. Heights that are allocated are lower than the recommended heights for each age group from PCQ rules. If the whole age group doesn’t want to ride the allocated height (higher or lower, than this can be changed on the day, and all scores would count)
    • Prep – grade 3 will be split lead line or off lead, please nominate for the most appropriate class. If on the day your child needs to swap group, just let the event organizer know before they start. The lead lines will get scored so that their scores can contribute to their school score and therefore will have an overall award as well rather than gift bags.
  • Jumping and Dressage:
    • 2 horses maximum per rider on the jumping dressage day but will need to be in different jump height classes and dressage  tests to ensure adequate time to swap. Maximum 1 height per horse/ dressage level.
    • If less than 3 nominated in a jump / dressage the class may be combined with a class above or below as long as the classes have the same dressage test. The nominated height will be what they jump regardless of combining or not. Combined Groups are treated as ONE group for the purpose of calculating the result of each class and overall awards, i.e., Penalties and time judged equally, ignoring the different heights. This still can occur with the already combined height classes.
    • The pre-combined height classes will have jumps ranging between these heights.
    • Jumping will have an order that is provided prior to the competition, no swapping of order unless consulted with the event organizing committee and judges.
    • Jump off heights can increase up to 10cm.
    • On lead/ adult support in ring please nominate for the 20-30cm class and prep 1 as applicable for your rider. Any nominated for higher heights or prep 2 or 3 won’t be able to have adult support in the ring.
    • Dressage callers are permitted at any test level. Callers can only call word for word on the test, can’t answer questions from the rider etc.
    • Dressage and Jumping are combined as one fee there is no difference in cost if opting out of one or the other, this is as we are limited to number of participants on the grounds. We have set for which height would be in combination with what test. If there are any concerns about the suitability of your rider please contact the event organizer and we can try fit you into the best class. But if in doubt you may have to select either dressage or jumping to a level lower than they normally compete to suit the discipline they are less confident/ level of comp at. If you opt out of one or the other the one you do ride will not count towards the score for the school and you won’t be eligible for overall individual trophy, and  dressage+ jumping trophy.
    • Prep tests may only have one Judge at C, depending on availability of judges and number of nominations.
    • Dressage arena will be 60x20m unless otherwise stated at the time of the draw at which it will then be a 40x20m arena for Prep Classes.
    • Dressage will have an order and time allocation; this will be sent out prior to the event.
    • Dressage tests can be found at the EA website.
