Dressage Lessons with David McKinnon

David McKinnon is an FEI Dressage Rider and NCAS level 1 coach. Dave started his dressage career after leaving school and beginning work at Woodside stables here in Bowral. He then trained with top Dressage rider Brett Parbery for a few years before beginning Mckinnon Sport Horses. He has enjoyed huge success on a number of different horses including Novice and Elementary Champions at both a State and National Dressage Championships on Bradgate Park Jatz owned by John and Bev Healy.

David will be available for lessons two days prior to each of our competitions, at the Leeton District Dressage Grounds, within the Leeton Racecourse. Arenas are sand competition arenas with tracks around the outside and a large sand warm up arena. Ample parking and yards available for hire.

Lesson time slots will be 45 min. In the event of inclement weather, lessons will take place in an Indoor Arena with an additional hire fee of $15 per lesson.

Lesson costs are $135 for current members of the REA Leeton District Dressage Club and $145 for non-members. Member discount will be applied at the time of payment.




REA Leeton District Dressage Club - Conditions of Entry

The conditions below are relevant for competitions/events held by REA LDDC Inc.

  1. Stallions – Horse float, yard, stable display green Stallion Identification Discs are to be shown at all times. Stallions are to be handled as per EA guidelines. Yards are available for hire for Stallions.
  2. Scratchings will be only be processed on presentation of a veterinary or doctors certificate. They will be refunded in full up to 7 days prior to the lesson. Within 7 days prior, the full 100% of the fee will be forfeited, unless a replacement rider is found to take the lesson slot.
  3. DNA – please show the courtesy of scratching before the day if you are unable to attend.
  4. Lesson payments will only be accepted on www.nominate.com.au by Credit Card
  5. Warm-up – please use designated warm up areas, be aware of group riding rules, look where you are going, keep at least 10m from competition arenas. Warm-up arena is only to be used by those directly warming up for competition. Those working horses and not competing directly may use the open area behind the yards, however it is at their own risk. Lunging to occur in the lunging area.
  6. Dogs – if brought onto the venue, dogs must be restrained at all times. They are restricted to the carpark only. Fines of $100 will be issued to the owner if a dog is found unrestrained or in an area other than the carpark. Owners continually not complying with these rules may result in the dog in question being removed from the grounds and impounded.
  7. Yards – yards may be booked at the time of entry, provided they are available, for a fee of $15 per day and a bond of $20. Owners of yards have first priority, however if owners are not attending a competition, their yards will be hired out. If yards are booked but do not become available, the full amount will be refunded. The $20 bond will be refunded at the end of the event provided they are left clean and free of manure. The committee reserves the right to increase the bond if this not being followed.
  8. No temporary yards/fences made predominantly of electric fencing or rope are to be used as per 2018 EA rules.
  9. Camping is available. Contact the event organizer for more information. There are limited powered camping sites for $15 per night. Unpowered camping is free and generators are permitted, provided they are shut off from 10pm to 5am. No horse arrivals prior to Saturday.
  10. Video cameras and equipment are to be kept at least 10m from competition arenas, preferably at the C or A end of the arena.
  11. All competitors must abide by current regulations as set down by the NSW DPI in respect to travelling and horse events. All competitors are to provide Property Identification Codes when entering.            
  12. The REA LDDC organizing committee reserves the right to alter these conditions of entry
