Indoor Driving Jackpot Event

Gatton Indoor Arena, Gatton Showgrounds

10am Sunday 5th May 2019

What do you have to do?

The course involves two marathon obstacles with five gates in each and six pairs of cones that each driver and turnout must pass through without upsetting the balls perched on top.  It is a timed event.  Every entrant has two goes in the first round.  The fastest time with the lowest number of knockdowns is counted.

The fastest six entries go in the second round (if there are more than six entries), and then the fastest three from the second round compete for the final round.  Those three receive the prizemoney.

Who can enter?

Any driver 14 years and over can enter, with any breed or any size pony/horse/mule/donkey/heavy horse, in any combination (single/pairs/four-in-hand/tandem).  Carriages must be four-wheeled marathon-type carriages, and there must be an on-carriage groom on every carriage (groom must be 18 years or older if driver is under 18). A driver may enter as many different horses/combinations as they like, but each equine can only compete in one entry (eg not as a single AND in a pair).

Drivers must be Equestrian Australia members (Participant or Competitor) or South Burnett Equestrian Group members ($25 for the 2019 year).

There will be a Safety and Horse Welfare Officer whose decision will be final regarding safety and horse welfare.  The surface is quite loose sand in the Gatton Indoor arena, so although speed is important, accuracy will play a big part.

How do you enter?

Entries are by . Entry fee is $40.00 which gives you at least two rounds, and possibly four rounds and the money!  Entries close April 14th at midnight.  Late entries taken with a $10 late fee until the the start of the event on the Sunday.  All horses must be either stabled on the ground, in harness with a driver or held by a responsible adult at all times.  They cannot be tied to a float/truck at this event.

What else is on?

The Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Field Day is spectacle no-one should miss.  This will be in the main arena Saturday and Sunday.  Sunday will include classes for light horses as well.
