WAQHA SHOW RULES

ATTENTION MEMBERS!

All members please be aware, if you require an extra handler(s) at any AQHA approved events (your mum, dad,friend etc.) for your horse(s), they must be a member of the WAQHA or AQHA otherwise if they are not membersof these they must complete a temporary day membership form and pay a fee of $15.00. This includes all arenas and stabling area. This new rule is due to insurance purposes for the AQHA. Temporary Membership Forms are available on the WAQHA website. 

  • The total entry fees must be forwarded to the WAQHA.

  • Late entries will not be accepted.

  • No change of rider/handler is allowed without advising the show office at least one hour prior to the event taking place.

  • PRIZEMONEY: - For Open events is based on number of entries for the Feature events. WAQHA retain 30%, 1st place receives 50%, 2nd 30% & 3rd 20%.

  • Feature events prize money will be paid out on a jackpot basis less 40%. This money will be paid out on the following basis. 1st 50%, 2nd 30%, 3rd20%.

  • Permanent numbers will be used for this show, if you do not have a permanent number please contact the committee.

  • In the case of outbreak of any contagious or infectious disease amongst horses, neither the WAQHA nor the sponsors or show organisers will be liable for any damage or loss that may occur to any person or animal.

  • No horses are to be lunged in the arena except for the designated times that Lunge line competitors are given to practice in the arena.

  • At all AQHA approved shows, on each day of the show, 1 hour prior to the commencement of the show and 1 hour after the cessation of the show, there will be no training equipment allowed in the immediate marshalling area and the performance arena and dress regulations of Cap/Hat, long western style pants, safe enclosed footwear and a shirt with sleeves must be worn.

  • Exhibitors shall not approach the judge for any reason prior to completion of the judging, unless the exhibitor has finished exhibiting and the request must be made through the Ring Steward. No exhibitor will request information from the judge, or the decisions made by that judge, concerning any exhibit at a show, on the day of the show or within the immediate 7 days following the show.

  • Competitors realize that horse related competition has an inherent risk and as such compete at this competition at their own risk. The WAQHA and show organisers will accept no liability for accident, loss or injury. This applies to all competitors, their connections, horses and spectators. Entries will not be accepted unless the Liability Waiver has been signed by owners and exhibitors of all horses.

  • Competitor’s/participants at any event run by WAQHA have a responsibility to ensure the welfare of their horses and at all times to treat their horses humanely and with dignity, respect and compassion. Competitors/participants are to conduct themselves in a professional manner and act with integrity in all dealings with the Affiliate and other competitors. To uphold the rules and regulations of the WAQHA and the AQHA at all times. Competitors/participants are to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times, showing respect for your fellow competitors and officials, following the rules and to treat people the way you yourself wish to be treated.

  • No alcohol/drugs are allowed in, or can be consumed in the marshalling areas, working arenas or show pen/contest areas.

  • Every horse entered for competition shall be under the control of the Show Manager or such person/s he appoints to act on his behalf.

  • Only contestants in the specific classes and Show Officials will be allowed in the competition arena or marshalling area during the judging.

  • The Show Committee (consisting of the Show Manager and 2 WAQHA committee members) shall have discretion to request any exhibitor remove themselves from the said area for inhumane treatment and/or training of any horse or the failure to observe the Rules and Regulations of the competition and the Rules and Regulations of the AQHA or any reasonable request. Your co-operation is expected.

  • An exhibitor or rider who refuses to obey a request of the Judge, Show Manager or any show official may be disqualified from any further competition at the show and also forfeits all winnings and entry fees and other charges from the show and may be requested to remove themselves from the show arena. This is at the discretion of the Show Committee.

  • Show management may exclude horses from competition should there be any unnecessary or embarrassing delay on the part of the exhibitor in bringing the horse into the competition arena. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to present themselves at the competition arena gate when called. Failure to report on final call will result is disqualification from the class. In the event that a horse is excluded from entry, all entry fees and charges for the class are forfeited without Liability to the show organisers/committee.

  • Show management reserve the right to change the order of classes before or during the show. It is theresponsibility of the exhibitor to be aware of any changes, which will be posted at the Show Secretary’s office andannounced. Every endeavour will be made to give one hour’s notice of any changes to the running order of events;however, every endeavour will be made to avoid changes.

  • All horses must be serviceably sound. In case of suspected unsoundness the Judge and/or Show Management, May, if he/she so desires have the animal examined by the Show Veterinarian at the owners cost and his decision shall be final.

  • Riders and handlers must be correctly attired at all times including western hat/helmet and riding boots. Any person not correctly attired will not be allowed into the Marshalling arenas.

  • Protests must be made in writing to the show secretary and be lodged within 30 minutes of the completion of the disputed event. A cash fee of $50 must accompany any protest.

  • The Show Committee shall consist of the Show Manager and two WAQHA committee members. The Show Committee may request information from any competitor or observer regarding the disputed event. The decision of the Show Committee is final and not open to appeal.

  • Youth ages will be as at 1st August, 2019, and all youth competitors must have the written permission of a parent or guardian or legal guardian to compete.

  • All youth competing or taking part in an AQHA approved event, must have written permission from their parent/guardian to be at that event as a contestant or participant and in the case of a contest, the parent/guardian must also sign the entry form. All youth competing or taking part in an AQHA approved event must be in the care of a responsible adult who is in attendance for the duration of that event, whilst the youth is in attendance at that event.

  • If a horse is vetted out, and it has been entered for competition in a Youth event, then that youth can use a replacement horse as long as the replacement horse has been previously entered in the show. It should be noted that once this has taken place the horse that was vetted out is not allowed to compete in the rest of the show.

  • In an amateur class, if the amateurs horse is vetted out they will be permitted to use a replacement horse for that class as long as the replacement horse has been previously entered in the show. The replacement horse must be eligible according to the AQHA amateur rules. It should be noted that once this has taken place the horse that was vetted out is not allowed to compete in the rest of the show.

  • Please be aware of the Animal Welfare Policy, this will be strictly adhered to.

  • Drug testing may be performed at this show.

  • Camping and stable booking to be made direct with venue

  • Non participation in an event will not warrant a refund of any monies. A show credit equal to the value of the

    class entry fees may be granted at the committee’s discretion if the request is accompanied by a Veterinary Certificate and/or Doctor’s Certificate within 7 days from the date of the show

    AmQHA Classes.

  • Entry into AmQHA performance halter classes require the AmQHA registered horse to hold 20 AmQHA points in performance, (please see rule 148 J of the AmQHA rulebook) If entering Performance halter, the same horse can not enter regular AmQHA halter classes.

  • Only AmQHA registered horses and riders/handlers with individual AmQHA membership (no joint or family memberships) are permitted to enter American classes. A copy of membership and registration papers must be sent with entries. All AmQHA Amateurs must be current Amateur members.

  • All youth entering AmQHA events must own their registered AmQHA horse.

  • No change of rider/handler is permitted for AmQHA classes once the show has commenced.
