RULES OF ENTRY

If you are entering as a BDC member and are not an EA member, please renew your BDC membership prior to entering.  Entries will be rejected by BDC if you are not either a current member of BDC or EA, your money will be refunded and you will have to re-enter after joining BDC/ EA.  Please do not enter with the intention of joining BDC/ EA after you enter, as this simply requires too much chasing by the BDC volunteer committee.

NOTE: If you joined after 1st October 2016 then your BDC membership is current until End of 2017

ENTRY FORMS

Entries will ONLY be accepted through Nominate – www.nominate.com.au

  • All entries are accepted in order of receipt
  • In the case of over-subscription, you will be placed on a Reserve List
  • LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR THIS COMPETITION – NO EXCEPTIONS
  • It is the competitor’s responsibility to know the EA rules regarding eligibility for entry to classes, gear etc.  BDC will run competitions to comply with these rules.   The Rules can be found at WWW.EQUESTRIAN.ORG.AU
  • Competitors are limited to a maximum of three horses per event.  Each rider can compete in no more than six tests.  Each horse may compete in no more than three tests at two consecutive levels.
  • Only one rider per horse is allowed for the competition
  • Forms and Waivers must be completed fully to comply with BDC/ EA insurance
  • BRIDLE NUMBERS ARE COMPULSORY.  You will not be able to complete the entry on Nominate if you do not have a bridle number.  Unregistered horses can still receive bridle numbers.           Contact Equestrian NSW on 02 9620 2660 and they will give you one over the phone.  Riders are to use only one name per horse per bridle number.
  • Time requests for competitors should be noted on the Entry Form.  We will try to meet these requests when compiling the Draw, but this is not always possible.  Times cannot be changed on the day.
  • The Event Secretary will apply all Rules equally to entries.  Any complaints should be directed to the BDC Committee in writing via the Event Secretary.
  • No change of horse is allowed after entry closing date.  However, change of rider is permissible if required, with 40 minutes’ notice given to the Event Secretary.

REFUNDS

A refund may only be made if documented proof (i.e. veterinary or medical certificate) is produced within 24 hours of the completion of the event to the Event Secretary. Test fees will be refunded, Administration Fee/ Volunteer Levy are not refundable.

 

COMPETITION CANCELLATION

  • In the event of the competition being cancelled due to weather, Entry Fees will be refunded, Ground/ Admin Fees are not refundable.

 

  • BDC Website and Facebook page will be updated in the event of change

 

 

  • For changes after closing date, all entered competitors will be emailed.

COMPETITION RULES

  • IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL COMPETITORS TO BE AWARE OF THE RULES OF THIS COMPETITION.
    • The competition will be held in accordance with the Rules of the EA and FEI.  A copy of the EA Rules can be purchased directly from the EA or downloaded from the EA website:  www.equestrian.org.au
    • Competitors must be current members of EA or BDC Inc. to compete
    • Riders should always be correctly attired, gloves and coat are compulsory on presentation to the Gear Steward unless hot weather allowance applies, in which case it will be announced on the day
    • Warming up and lunging must be well away from the competition areas
    • Competitors must not warm up, ride in or around arenas in which tests are in progress.  You may not warm up in the competition arenas or area.
    • Spectators must stay at least 10m away from any arena
    • All competitors must report to the Gear Steward no more than 15 minutes prior to each test
    • Times will be strictly adhered to.  Failure to report to the Judge at the appointed time can mean elimination
    • Callers are permitted at this competition
    • All protests must be submitted in writing to the Secretary within 30 minutes of the happening which gave rise to the protest.  As per EA Rule 1.3, such written protests must be accompanied by a fee of $20 which will be refunded if the protest is upheld.
    • Registered ponies may now compete in all Official classes.  They must be registered with the EA, have a current grading card and have proof of measurement, being 149cm or less (with shoes). Riders of ponies must turn minimum of 10 years in the calendar year of competition.  Dressage Rule 1.15.
    • No dogs are allowed on the grounds, by order of Bowral Dressage Club
    • No horses are to be ridden at a BDC competition unless they are entered in the competition and the riders are current members of EA or BDC with current disclaimers.
    • Neither the organizers’ nor the owner of the property accepts any liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, spectators or any other person or property whatsoever
    • Unauthorized vehicles are not permitted to cross the racetrack and must remain in car/ float area.

Horse sports are dangerous recreational activities and horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable way, especially if frightened or hurt.

There is a significant risk that serious injury or death may result from horse sport activities.  I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, and I voluntarily participate at my own risk and assume sole responsibility for any injury, death or property damage I may suffer that arises from my participation in horse sport activities.

I understand and acknowledge the dangers associated with the consumption of alcohol or any mind-altering drugs before and during the activities and take full responsibility for any injury loss or damage associated with their consumption.  I agree not to drink alcohol or take drugs prohibited by law before or during any horse sport activities.

I agree to follow the directions of any event organizer or official and that any misconduct or refusal by me to follow any direction of any organizer or official can result in the cancellation of my participation in the activities and my immediate removal from my horse no matter where that may occur.  I understand that any such noncompliance may result in injury, death and/or permanent disability as a result of my failure to comply.

I agree to abide by the rules and safety requirements set down in the conditions of entry in accordance with EA and BDC.  I take sole responsibility for ensuring that while riding I will wear a suitable helmet and safety gear.
