All tests will be the 2022 Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) tests
Cost:
WDA- AUS Members:
- $17 per OPEN test (Sanctioned/Non-sanctioned Classes)
- $20 per OPEN and AMATEUR test (Sanctioned(Open) & Non- Sanctioned (Open) and Amateur.
WDA-AUS NON Members
- $20 per test (Non-sanctioned Classes)
- Event Only membership $15 (Non SEG or WDA-AUS members)
Electric Fences are allowed. Limited yards are available.
Event Information:
- This event will be conducted under WDA-AUS Rules and Regulations
- Riders must be Senior or Youth Members of WDA-AUS or a Member of the host affiliate, or pay the Event Only Membership ($15) to compete in Non Sanctioned classes.
- Riders must be Senior or Youth Members of WDA-AUS and the horse must have a current WDA-AUS Competition License to compete in Sanctioned classes. Horse owners do not have to be WDA-AUS members.
- WDA-AUS Members can ride in both Sanctioned and Non Sanctioned classes
- WDA-AUS Non Members can only ride in Non Sanctioned classes
- Placings to 1st – 5th will be awarded separately for each class.
- Youth are placed in Open classes and are also placed separately in Youth classes (1st – 5th)
- Amateur Division – Riders must hold a current approved Amateur Permit issued by WDA-AUS
- Amateur classes are held within the Open classes
- An Amateur must enter the designated combined Open class + Amateur if they also wish to be considered for the Amateur placings (a fee will apply) – this must be done at the time of nominations
- Once nominations close for the show the Amateur cannot enter retrospectively.
- Where Sanctioned and Non Sanctioned classes in each test level are run concurrently, placings to 1st – 5th will be awarded separately for each class.
- Maximum of four tests per horse in any one competition day
- A horse can only be ridden in two consecutive levels in any one competition.
- E.g. Introductory/Basic Level or Basic/Level One
- A horse may be ridden by more than one rider – Riders may ride more than one horse – Horses may not be ridden more than once in a class
- Horses must be ridden astride
- No class or horse or rider changes can be made after the closing date.
- Callers are permitted and must comply with the rulebook requirements
- Standard show points (1x) will be allocated to the WDA-AUS Lifetime Horse Recognition & Awards Program
COME & TRY CLASSES
- Come & Try classes are Non Sanctioned and are restricted to RIDERS
- Who have either never ridden in Come & Try Classes at all or have only ridden in Come & Try classes at ONE show previously
- Or who have NEVER shown in Sanctioned or Non Sanctioned official Western Dressage classes prior to the show
- Riders that enter Come & Try classes may also enter other official classes at the same show (i.e. Come & Try Introductory Level Test A as well Introductory Level Test A Non Sanctioned)
- Non Sanctioned class ribbons will be awarded to fifth place.
- Youth are placed in both Open Come &Try and then separately in Youth Come &Try
- There are no Level Champions awarded in Come & Try Classes
- WDA-AUS allows the use of alternative saddles in Come & Try classes including: Western Saddles, Swinging Fender Saddles, Poley stock saddles, English style saddles. However, we strongly advise that you use a Western Saddle or a Swinging Fender saddle as per WDA-AUS rules.
- All other WDA-AUS legal tack requirements must be met.
OPEN LEVEL CHAMPION & RESERVE CHAMPION
Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to the highest aggregate percentages across the two tests at each level for Sanctioned classes (Same horse/rider combination).
Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to the highest aggregate percentages across the two tests at each level for Non Sanctioned classes (Same horse/rider combination).
Where more than two tests in a level are offered, the two highest test scores are used to find the highest average percentage.
OVERALL YOUTH CHAMPION & RESERVE CHAMPION
Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to the highest aggregate percentages achieved by Youth in Sanctioned classes (Same horse/Youth rider combination). The two highest scores from any Sanctioned classes in any level are used to find the highest average percentage.
Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to the highest aggregate percentages achieved by Youth in Non Sanctioned classes (Same horse/Youth rider combination). The two highest scores from any Non Sanctioned classes (Excluding C&T) in any level are used to find the highest average percentage.
OVERALL AMATEUR CHAMPION & RESERVE CHAMPION
Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to the highest aggregate percentages achieved by an Amateur in Sanctioned classes (Same horse/Amateur rider combination). The two highest scores from any Amateur Sanctioned classes in any level are used to find the highest average percentage.

The two highest scores from any Amateur Non Sanctioned classes (Excluding C&T) in any level are used to find the highest average percentage.
MINIMUM DRESS/GEAR REQUIREMENTS (see WDA-AUS Rulebook for more info)
- Long sleeved western style shirts with a collar of any type
- Western style long pants/jeans
- Western hat or an approved safety helmet which conforms to the Australian Safety Standard (Helmet must be worn by Youth riders)
- Appropriate western style riding boots
- Western saddle or Swinging Fender Stock saddle only (See WDAAUS Rulebook)
REFUNDS/SCRATCHINGS
Horse vet certificate or rider doctor certificate required to receive refund after the closing date of entries
NO REFUNDS FOR SCRATCHINGS AFTER Saturday 30th May 2026

If the event is cancelled all competitors will be refunded less the 5.5% Nominate Processing fee (As per Nominate regulations)
