BRC PRESENTS
Competitive trail riding is a sport which involves a horse and rider negotiating a course within a specified time, being challenged at judge points involving various obstacles along the way. The set riding pace is usually between 6 and 10 kilometres an hour. Horses are judged on their willingness to perform the rider’s requests, manners and ability. It is not a race!
All horses will be given a horse health assessment by a vet (subject to availability) prior to starting and riders will go out in pairs for safety. It is anticipated that riders will complete the course within approximately 1.5 hours.
The BRC ride will be held at Hibernian Road off the Kings Highway near the defence headquarters roundabout and will traverse easy terrain in Kowen forest on a marked trail. There will be approximately 10 obstacles on the course that will be judged. As indicated above, horses will be judged on their willingness to perform the riders’ requests at the obstacles with a scale of a perfect score being 50 points and non completion being 0 Points. A map and instructions for the course including the location of the obstacles will be provided to each pair of riders on the day.
Lunch will be available on the day.
Cost per rider is $35 including lunch.
You can make your own pair with a friend or the Club can allocate you a partner. Please let us know the name of your chosen partner on entry. If entering alone please indicate if you are willing to canter so we can match you with the right partner.
Please ensure that your gear/equipment/horse/pony is in good safe working order.
If you are riding, you will be required to wear a tagged riding helmet approved by EA (Equestrian Australia) and appropriate clothing and footwear.
BRC is an EA affiliated club and, as such, is covered by Public Liability Insurance.
EA members are also covered under insurance whilst riding and training their horses. However, being a BRC member only does not mean that you are automatically covered under insurance. You should consider if holding your own personal accident or loss of income insurance is right for you if you are not also an EA member.
A scratching fee will apply. Full refunds are only available if there is a rider on the waitlist or on receipt of a veterinary or medical certificate.
Please take note of the closing date and time - NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. There will be a small waitlist.
