Start time and order of classes will be released closser to the show and CVWR&QHC reserves the right to change start times and order of classes.

 

Conditions of Entry

 

# Non-NCHA Members may compete in Rookie and/or Snaffle Bit Events (depicted with #). An additional day fee of $35.00 per day applies. All non-NCHA riders must sign the NCHA Waiver prior to riding and will be charged the $35.00 day membership fee. Application for NCHA membership can be found on the NCHA website: https://www.ncha.com.au/membership

It is a requirement of the CVWR&QHC and the NCHA that every person entering the arena, cattle yards, or handling any horse must be an NCHA member or have an event membership and must sign a disclaimer – see Secretary on arrival.

Withdrawals from competition within 48 hours of the event will result in loss of all entry fees, including cattle hire, office fees, etc. See NCHA Rule 11.c.

Children under seven (7) years of age cannot ride or be in charge of a horse at any NCHA affiliated event.

Junior Youth will not be permitted to ride or be in charge of stallions at any NCHA affiliated event.

CVWR&QHC requires all Senior Youth riding stallions to be under continuous supervision of a responsible adult at all times.

Camping is permitted in designated camping/float parking areas only. Please do not park or set up horse yards near the Western Pleasure Arena. Please maintain a respectable distance from the warm-up arena and do not set up yards along it. No trees are to be included in yards, and CVWR&QHC asks that care is taken around newly planted trees.

Dogs are NOT permitted on Saturday (as per Ag Society rules). Dogs are permitted on Sunday only if under control at all times and kept in the camping area. No dogs are allowed at the clubhouse.

Stallion yards are for stallions only. All requests for stallion yards must be sent to the Show Secretary at: [email protected] Special requests for stallion yards for horses that are not stallions will only be considered after all stallion allocations have been made.

CVWR&QHC requires all youth riders under 18 years of age to wear a helmet.

CVWR&QHC asks that all committee members, helpers, volunteers, spectators, and competitors be treated with respect.

Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the committee. Late entries will be placed at the bottom of the draw with no guarantee of fresh cattle.

Only authorised personnel are permitted within the cattle yards.

NCHA EVENTS - The classifications of NCHA Inc. approved events are:

OPEN - Open to all horses regardless of breed, age, sex, colour, conformation, appearance or previous performance. Horses are to be judged on performance only.

$15,000 NOVICE- For horses that have not won in excess of $15,000 in affiliated NCHA cutting horse competitions in their lifetime including Non Pro & Rookie earnings & excluding all age/restricted earnings and all Non Pro age/restricted earnings.

OPEN NON PRO - Open to all NCHA Inc. Non Professional Card Holders regardless of lifetime earnings.

ROOKIE - Open to all Persons who have not won $3,000in any NCHA approved cutting horse competition, or who have not accrued 60 or more points in their lifetime as determined by the records of the NCHA excluding all Snafflebit events that are not snaffle bit aged events. Any Youth who has accumulated 100 or more lifetime points will also cease to be eligible. Money or points earned while competing on a day fee will also be included for eligibility purposes. The burden of proof of eligibility will be on the competitor. Rookies are exempt from Non Pro ownership rules.

NOVICE/NON PRO - Open to all Non Professional Card Holders who own a Novice horse. Earnings will be tabulated for both horse and rider and high point standings & awards will be determined by the horse. Non pros must own the horse(s) shown in this class.

SNAFFLEBIT - The Snafflebit is a one or two handed contest, open to all riders who have not won $3,000 lifetime earnings (excluding age events) or 50 points. Professional trainers will be eligible to complete in Snafflebit classes as long as they have not won $3000. Points won in a Snafflebit class will accumulate to determine a competitor’s eligibility for that class, but will not count towards lifetime earnings or the status of rider. Money and points earned in Snafflebit classes (excluding age events)will be applied to all future classes. Once a horse and rider combination who is eligible to compete in Snafflebit classes compete in a Non Pro class or Novice/Open class, that horse and rider combination are no longer eligible to compete in a Snafflebit class. Points earned whilst competing on a day fee will also be included for eligibility purposes. The burden of proof of eligibility will be on the competitor. A competitor may borrow a horse and may pay a day fee to compete. There is a limit of two horses that may be ridden in this class, however only the points from the highest earning horse will count towards highpoint awards. Committees may have added money or jackpot events, however points will be tabulated for area high point standings. Horse may be shown using one or two hands on bridle reins. Twisted wire snaffles, gag snaffles or shank snaffles shall not be used. Snaffle bits are to be a minimum of 10mm (3/8”) and have a smooth single jointed mouthpiece. Bosals and hackamores may be used. They shall be of rope or braided rawhide and have no metal parts. All other dress/equipment as per rule 16. Snaffle Bit classes are exempt from Non Pro rules excluding snaffle bit aged events.

AFFILATED YOUTH - Is a one-handed class. Riders who compete in the affiliated youth will not be eligible for the non- affiliated youth class run by CVWR&QHC. CVWR&QHC requires all youth riders under 18 years of age to wear a helmet.

-Junior Youth- must be aged 13 years and under as at the Start of the competition year. (All Junior Youth are required to wear helmets at NCHA affiliated shows.)

-Senior Youth - are aged 14- 18 years as at the start of the competition year

NON-NCHA EVENTS

BEGINNER 2 HANDED - The Beginner 2 Handed class is for riders who have not competed in any NCHA-affiliated class. The horse must also have never competed in an NCHA-affiliated event (including the Snaffle Bit class). Riders in this class may also enter the Novice 2 Handed event if they feel confident enough. Once a rider competes in a Snaffle Bit class (or higher), they are no longer eligible to participate in the Beginner 2 Handed class.

NOVICE 2 HANDED - The Novice 2 Handed class is for riders who have either never competed in an NCHA-affiliated event or have only competed in Snaffle Bit events. Riders in this class may compete on a trained cutting horse. Once they compete in any NCHA-affiliated event above the Snaffle Bit level, they are no longer eligible for this class.

YOUTH 2 HANDED RULES - Youth riders must be between 7 and 18 years old. They may ride a trained cutting horse. CVWR&QHC requires all youth riders under 18 to wear a helmet. Horse and rider combinations that compete in any one-handed class are not eligible for any non-affiliated youth classes held by CVWR&QHC.
