What you need to know about The Great Sport of Geriatric Dressage!
1. All we care about is whether you are safe, and that your horse's welfare is the highest priority.
2. Any gear is allowed, provided it fulfils the criteria of safety and horse welfare. So yes, you can use your western saddle, your stock saddle, or no saddle at all! Same goes for running martingales, neck straps, bridles without nosebands, whatever you can convince our very learned judges is safe and in the interest of your horse.
3. You can wear what you feel comfortable in.
4. Yes, you can plait. Or not. Whatever.
5. You can change your horse, or your class, right up until March 1st, for a small fee. This means you can confirm your place early, and then decide which horse, which class, which tests, later on. And you won't miss out.
6. You should start thinking about your 'Note from Home'. For ideas, check out previous Notes from Home on The Great Sport of Geriatric Dressage facebook page.
7. You do two tests. Or the same test twice. Either is fine. yes, you can do any EA or FEI test, including freestyles, Young Horse tests, Pony tests, whatever you want.
8. Any other questions, email [email protected].
Everyone is welcome!
There are SINGLE Geriatric Classes where EITHER the rider is 50 or over, OR the horse is 18 or over. And DOUBLE Geriatric classes where the rider is 50 or over AND the horse is 18 or over.
So yes, on this day, if you are under 50 BUT your horse is 18 or over, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO JOIN THE FUN.
