Trail Ride along the Bicentennial National Trail (BNT) Rivett ACT
This easy trail ride of about 2 hours will take us along the BNT from Rivett ACT giving us beautiful views of the Brindabellas.
Meeting point and time

We will meet at Kathner Street, Rivett. There is a very large grassy verge with plenty of easy parking for floats. The BNT starts near the corner of Kathner St and Percy Crescent so park as close to Percy Crescent as possible.
The time to meet is 9.30am so that we can be ready to ride out by 10am.
The trail
The trail is fairly good underfoot, fire trail width and undulating. Most horses should be able to do the ride without having to be super fit. Boots or shoes are recommended unless the horse is well conditioned barefoot. It is expected the ride will be WALK ONLY but trotting now and again may be possible depending on the experience of the riders on the day.
The BNT includes cavaletti at a few points to allow access for horses so please practice if you think your horse may find them a problem. The cavaletti consist of 4-5 poles usually on the ground but they can be elevated off the ground as well.
We are also likely to come across kangaroos and horses in adjoining paddocks and bike riders and walkers with dogs on the trail.
There will be lovely views of the Brindabellas for most of the ride.
Please byo lunch if you would like to socialise a bit more after the ride is finished before heading home.
There is no cost for this trail ride. Registration closes on Monday 23 February 2026. Numbers are limited to 12 riders.
Enquiries to club email ([email protected]) and scratchings or issues on the day contact Helen Locke directly on 0412 727 161

CODE OF CONDUCT, SAFETY and INSURANCE
Please ensure that your gear/equipment/horse/pony is in good safe working order.
If you are riding, you will be required to wear a tagged riding helmet approved by EA (Equestrian Australia) and appropriate clothing and footwear.
BRC is an EA affiliated club and, as such, is covered by Public Liability Insurance.
EA members are also covered under insurance whilst riding and training their horses. However, being a BRC member only does not mean that you are automatically covered under insurance. You should consider if holding your own personal accident or loss of income insurance is right for you if you are not also an EA member.
A scratching fee will apply. Full refunds are only available if there is a rider on the waitlist or on receipt of a veterinary or medical certificate. (Obviously not relevant to free events)
