Riding With Sticks is proud to host Christopher Nemethy of Nemethy Academy for his first ever time in Australia! Christopher Nemethy is one of the key founders of the modern sport of horse archery and one of the foremost horse archery coaches in the world. A specialist in the Tower discipline in particular, Christopher Nemethy can take your horse archery skills forward in a massive leap over this four day intensive workshop.

Who are Christopher Nemethy and Nemethy Academy?

Christoph Némethy is a three-time European champion and horseback archery world champion on the Hungarian (Tower) track. As the head coach of the Némethy Horseback Archery Academy, he dedicates his life to this sport, fostering not only athletic performance but also respect for cultural heritage, discipline, and a natural connection with animals.

From childhood, Christoph has been devoted to horseback archery, embracing its traditions and values early on. He developed his unique methodology by blending family heritage—drawing inspiration from his ancestor, Bertalan Némethy, who was also dedicated to the development of equestrian sports and authored influential works—together with knowledge from international experts and his own experiences. The academy's headquarters in Hungary spans 25 hectares, where participants can master three different horseback archery styles—Tower, Raid, and Hunt—combining classic horsemanship and archery skills with modern competition techniques. Training sessions at the academy enhance not only physical abilities but also self-awareness and mental strength, positively impacting each participant’s character. Christoph believes horseback archery is not just a sport but a lifestyle that enhances concentration, patience, and perseverance.

As a coach, Christoph organizes numerous international camps and competitions worldwide each year, having taught athletes from over 36 countries. He has nearly 2,000 students, many of whom achieve outstanding results, demonstrating Christoph's dedication and expertise. His commitment extends beyond teaching; in 2022, he launched an international horseback archery coaching program to ensure quality knowledge for future coaches and to support high-level international youth development.

As an event organizer, Christoph and the academy were behind the first Open and International Horseback Archery World Championship in 2018, the Youth and Children's Horseback Archery World Championship in 2019, and the 2024 Horseback Archery European Championship. The 2018 World Championship was a milestone in the horseback archery world, as it was broadcast live on television. The 2024 European Championship was streamed live on the academy’s YouTube channel with the support of a professional team. In 2025, the International Horseback Archery Championship was also broadcast live on YouTube, further expanding the academy’s international reach.

He also developed the Némethy Motivation System in 2024, an innovative online training platform that currently focuses on archery while preparing students for horseback archery through structured, challenge-based learning.

In addition to teaching and organizing, Christoph is committed to the global development of horseback archery. He supports the operation and strengthening of horseback archery centers worldwide and collaborates with the International Horseback Archery Alliance (IHAA). Additionally, he oversees the development and sales of more than 172 equestrian, archery, and specialized horseback archery products, used by the world’s top horseback archery athletes.

Throughout his career, Christoph has inspired countless people. He believes that training at the Némethy Horseback Archery Academy is not only a sporting challenge but a lifelong experience, where everyone can discover themselves and make new.

Equipment requirements
As with all Riding With Sticks clincis all archery equipment is available including bow, arrows, targets and arm protection, but it is assumed generally that attendees will have or be looking towards moving to higher performance bows over the event if they have not done so already prior. Nemethy Acadaemy sells a range of performance bows that can be trialled during the event for purchase. If not purchasing, youwill need to use your own bow. Please reach out and talk to us about your bow and arrows when booking and where you are at. If you have some idea on what you want this can be advised to Nemethy before the arrive and they can probably bring a specific version for you to test. Some alternative performance school bows are available to use as well to help people with making decisions on what they might invest in next if they do not want a Nemethy Bow.
