8.30-9.30 am:

BRC members and friends are invited to attend a free introductory session/talk focussed on rider exercise physiology and biomechanics. (Must REGISTER, please)

(no late fee for FREE intro session registration - despite what nominate says!)

9.45 am-4.30 pm: 4 x 1.5 hour unmounted sessions with a maximum of 4 people per group.

About Equimotion:
Equimotion was founded by Emma Mathlin & Kristin Dean, experienced and passionate practitioners with qualifications in human & equine physiotherapy, exercise physiology, Clinical Pilates & biomechanics. They provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment, fitness and posture training programs, and objective performance and gait analysis of both horse and rider and are based in Sydney.

Hannah Mauldon has joined Equimotion and is a dedicated horse rider, has a Doctor of Physiotherapy, and a background in neurological physiotherapy. She is also an EA para-dressage classifier. Hannah will be our instructor.

Equimotion’s purpose is to provide scientifically proven solutions that help to facilitate injury prevention, recovery, and improved performance for both horse and rider, encouraging riders and owners to be active partners in the management and rehabilitation process.

BRC Clinic:
We will have four unmounted sessions, each with four participants. We will look at rider biomechanics and the role of exercise in becoming a more efficient and harmonious partner for your horse. Hannah will work with the group participants to break down the biomechanical components needed to be an effective rider,
aiming to identifying factors which may be limiting your performance, and teach you ways to address them both in and out of the saddle.

Things to think about:

  • We hear about core strength a lot – it is an integral part of Pilates. However, as riders you need to be able to do much more than brace your core. Stillness needs to come from your ability to follow the motion of your horse and you can't do that if you're trying to hold yourself rigid. It requires the ability to coordinate activation of the trunk, pelvis, and hip muscles, while also breathing and staying relaxed. It's not easy!
  • Lack of mobility in the ankle, hip, knee & lumbopelvic region can lead to poor shock absorption, causing you to bounce out of the saddle rather than move in time with the horse.
  • There are so many ways we can improve our body awareness and control, and in doing so, help our horses to feel comfortable and relaxed while we are on their backs.

Poles + Grids with Samantha Sant

Sam is an accomplished showjumper with her own business, Castello Park Equestrian, locally in Wamboin.  She will help us have fun with distances, timing, lines, coordination and much more using pole and grid exercises.

These sessions will also be run in Groups of 4 for ~75 minutes.  We will aim to put people of similar levels together.

Cost – Equimotion $40.

(Note: BRC received a Sport NSW Grant to help subsidise the cost of these sessions, normally $80)

Cost – Poles + Grids $40

OR Benefit further by doing BOTH Equimotion & Poles + Grids  - $60
