Skills at Arms with Harry Ball : Sunday 11th May 2025
Ready to ride like a knight (or a 10th Light Horseman!)? Join us for a fun filled monrning learning all about Skills at Arms (tent pegging) with the incredible Harry Ball and joined by the talented Peta-Leigh Morris for demos that’ll have you inspired!
Open to all levels of riders – from beginners just getting started to advanced riders looking to test their skills at a canter (100% optional, zero pressure – we promise!). Harry will guide you through everything you need to know in a fun and supportive environment.
🏇 So what IS tent pegging?
Tent pegging originated in India as a tribal pastime. It was taken up by the soldiers of the British cavalry to be used as a Mounted practice for warfare. Tent pegging is a team or relay race where you and your horse aim to pick up or knock down pegs with a sword or lance – as fast and accurately as possible. But don’t worry, we’ll be doing a beginner-friendly version at walk and trot. Yes, you WILL be riding with a sword or lance – but no sharp points! Safety first, always at YEA! 🛡️
💥 This rally is all about control, balance, timing, precision, and that incredible horse-rider connection – building on everything we’ve worked on this year. Watching Harry and Peta-Leigh in action will show you what’s possible – and you’ll get to give it a go too!
💛 Giving back: At the request of our amazing coach Harry Ball, proceeds from this rally will be donated to the 10th Light Horse, Bunbury – a wonderful cause that supports our military history and horsemanship traditions.
