🌟 Working Equitation with Ashlea Jay Equine 🌟

📅 Date: Saturday, 19th September 2026

📍 Location: Stanton Park, Harvey

💰 Cost: Single lesson : $70 per rider  |  Two-class package : $110 per rider

Join us for a fun and practical Working Equitation rally with Ashlea Jay Equine, with sessions designed to build rhythm, balance, responsiveness, confidence and control, both on the flat and through obstacles.

Working Equitation draws on skills that cross over into almost every discipline, so you definitely do not need to already “do” Working Equitation to come along. Whether your background is dressage, ranch riding, trail riding, jumping or general pleasure riding, there will be plenty here to take away and use in your everyday riding.

Why This Rally?

Working Equitation is about developing a horse that is balanced, responsive, confident and easy to manoeuvre.

The flatwork sessions focus on rhythm, accuracy, bend, balance and smooth transitions, while the Ease of Handling sessions take those same skills and put them to use through gates, poles, bridges and other practical obstacles.

This is a training rally, not a competition, so the focus is on learning, having a go and working at a level that suits you and your horse.

👇 Class Details Below: 👇

🔹 Class 1: WEq Style Dressage - Foundation
A relaxed introduction to the flatwork skills used in Working Equitation, using a set walk/trot pattern.

The focus will be on rhythm, balance, bend, straightness, accuracy and smooth transitions, helping horse and rider develop the control and responsiveness that will also make obstacle work easier.

Suitable for anyone new to Working Equitation, newer or less experienced horses, or riders simply wanting to work on the foundations.

🔹 Class 2: Ease of Handling / Obstacles - Foundation
An introduction to the Ease of Handling phase of Working Equitation, using a selection of obstacles and practical exercises.

The focus will be on confidence, steering, accuracy, balance, responsiveness and calmly working through each obstacle.

Suitable for horses and riders new to Working Equitation obstacles, or combinations wanting to build confidence and understanding before increasing the difficulty.

🔹 Class 3: WEq Style Dressage - Step-Up
For combinations ready to build on the foundations, incorporating walk, trot and canter.

The session will focus on rhythm, balance, accuracy, transitions, straightness, lateral control and maintaining quality of movement as the questions become more challenging.

Suitable for those comfortable working independently at walk, trot and canter.

🔹 Class 4: Ease of Handling / Obstacles - Step-Up
A more challenging Ease of Handling session for combinations already comfortable tackling basic obstacles and ready to develop greater accuracy, balance, control and manoeuvrability.

Ashlea will work through the obstacles with an emphasis on riding good lines, preparing effectively between obstacles and maintaining rhythm and responsiveness throughout.

Patterns

The Foundation and Step-Up flatwork classes will each use a set pattern so riders can see in advance what they’ll be working on.

The Foundation pattern is based on ANWE Level 1 Introductory Test 1.1 and is walk/trot only.  The Step-Up pattern will introduce canter and lateral work to the Foundation pattern.

The pattern diagram will be provided to participants prior to the rally.

📝 We will have a waitlist open and can add additional classes if there’s enough interest.
