Information for the two events being run simultaneously - Driving Queensland State Championships 2025  and SBEG Club Championships 2025

Friday Afternoon Classes

  1. Drive-1 Dressage and Cones (test and cones course available on the EA website) for EA Participant members, no registration of horse required, singles or multiples
  2. Drive-2 Challenge test (available on EA website), EA Competitor members, horse registration required, singles or multiples

Saturday Morning Classes

  1. Drive-1 Challenge test (available on the EA website) for EA Participant members, no registration of horse required, singles or multiples
  2. Drive-2 Dressage and Cones (available on EA website), EA Competitor members, horse registration required, singles or multiples

The above classes are online entry via nominate.com.au (Carriage Driving), event ‘Driving Queensland State Championships 2025.  Trophies for Champion and Reserve in Drive-1 and Drive-2

Saturday Afternoon Classes

SBEG Club events – open to all SBEG members (free membership if you are already an EA member of any level and all current ACDS members)

  1. Drive-W Challenge test (open to all-sized singles and pairs under 108cm), ribbons for Newcomers (first year of competing), Disability Drivers, Junior Drivers, Geriatric Dressage athletes (driver 50 years and over and/or horse 18 years and over)
  2. Drive-1 Challenge test for Small Ponies (open to singles under 120cm and pairs under 108cm)
  3. Drive-1 Challenge test for horses over 120cm or pairs over 108cm
  4. Drive-2 Challenge test for horses over 120cm or pairs over 108cm
  5. Cones Course – ideal time, 200m/min
  6. Cones Course – ideal time, 260m/min

Sunday Morning Classes

  1. Drive-W Challenge test
  2. Drive-1 Challenge test for small ponies
  3. Drive-1 Challenge test
  4. 3 x 3 x 3 Short Format Marathon of 3km, 3 obstacles and 3 gates.  Option of more gates at drivers’ discretion. Four-wheeled marathon-type vehicles necessary.  SBEG can supply all sizes of these if requested prior.

Information

  • Drivers may drive as many horses as they want.  Time will be allowed for any changes of horses and gear.
  • Each horse may have three starts on any day, with up to two drivers on Friday and Saturday, and up to three drivers on the Sunday (entirely Club day).  Dressage and Cones counts as two starts, everything else as one start.
  • Each horse may enter one class with more than one driver.
  • Singles under 120cm may either have a backstepper/groom on or off the carriage. Backsteppers on the carriage required for all others.
  • There are no age limits on drivers in the Club events. Backsteppers must be at least 10 years old for the Club events.  Backsteppers for Disability Drivers and Juniors must be at least 18 years old. EA Driving Rules apply for classes 1 to 4.
  • Second reins can be used for Club events.
  • Tagged helmets are compulsory for everyone.  Please request one if you need it.
  • Body protectors are compulsory for everyone on the carriage in the short format marathon and for all junior and disability drivers in all classes.  Please request one if you need it.  SBEG has a whole range of sizes to fit everyone.
  • Every test and event can be commanded from on or off the carriage.
  • Whips are optional but must be on the carriage.
  • Gloves are optional but a small penalty is applied if not worn.
  • Attire is clean, neat and sun-safe.  No formal wear is required.  No aprons are required.
  • No-one can be eliminated in Club events except where safety and horse welfare issues are involved.  Help is always available.  Just ask.
  • Camping and yards are available on the Nanango Showgrounds.  Please contact them directly.
  • You can practice in the dressage arena and around the cones course on Friday morning until noon.  The marathon obstacles will be available for walking on Saturday afternoon.
  • The same horse and driver combination can enter each Club class more than once
  • Awards for Geriatric athletes (driver 50 years and over and/or horse 18 years and over)
