At the recent Equestrian Queensland Awards, the Club was awarded “Equestrian Queensland Club of the Year 2009”.
Individually,
Deb Postle was
awarded “The King Track Group Administrator of the Year" award, to go with her "Eventing
Queensland Volunteer of the Year" award.
We must thank all members for their participation in achieving the “Club of the
Year” and thank Deb for her support and are pleased that her hard work is
recognised by others. WORKING BEES & COMPETITION ASSISTANCE for 2010 All working bee hours performed must be emailed to Tiffany for recording in the working bee Register or they will not be recognised. Running events with 170+ horses creates too much work on the day for a few people to manage, so this year we are spreading the workload out a little more. This year the register includes a separate section to record the additional 2 hours of competition assistance. This is only for assistance provided ON THE DAY, rather than prior to the event. Work done prior to an event will still be counted as normal working bee time. If you provide more that 2 hours of competition assistance to the club, the extra just rolls into your normal working bee hours, so don't feel you have to stop after 2 hours! To see your current working bee hours, please download the current Working Bee Register for 2010 (last updated on January 18th). Jobs that can be done right now...
With the next stage of the yards starting now, it's a great time to get your
working bee hours out of the way before the competition season starts (read
below).
The arena edge, and most of the cross country jumps need someone to clean around
them with a whipper snipper.
The dead grass in the sand arena needs to be pulled out so we can get a
bobcat in to level the sand for the next season.NEW YARDS - Jan/Feb We are just starting our next block of new yards. This will temporarily make it a bit difficult to find an available yard. The agistees are using the majority of what's left standing as nearly 50% of the remaining old yards are demolished over the next couple of weeks. Please be patient. The result will be worth it! New Tractor We have won the grant for a new tractor/slasher over Christmas, which will be a huge relief for the people who used to drive the old 'Russian Goddess'. She has gone to greener pastures, and a big new John Deere is on the way. We are also in the process of gaining approval for a large drive-through shed to house the new tractor, as well as the jumps and dressage arenas etc. Stay tuned.
